Step 1: Sign In to Google Search Console
Open your web browser and navigate to the Google Search Console website. Click on the “Start now” button, and sign in with the Google account that’s associated with your Google Search Console.
Step 2: Select Your Property
Once logged in, you’ll be presented with a list of your properties (websites) on the dashboard. Select the property (website) to which you want to add a user by clicking on it.
Step 3: Navigate to Settings
On the left-hand sidebar of your property’s dashboard, scroll down and click on “Settings.”
Step 4: Access Users and Permissions
In the “Settings” menu, locate the “Users and permissions” section and click on it. This will open a page listing all users who currently have access to your property.
Step 5: Add a New User
Click on the “+ Add user” button, usually located in the top right corner of the “Users and permissions” page.
Step 6: Enter the User’s Email and Select Permission Level
A dialog box will appear, prompting you to enter the email address of the person you want to add. After entering the email address, select the permission level for the new user. Google Search Console offers different levels of access:
- Full: The user can view all data and take most actions, such as changing settings or submitting sitemaps.
- Restricted: The user can view most data but cannot take actions like changing settings.
Choose the appropriate permission level based on what you want the new user to be able to do.
Step 7: Add User
After selecting the permission level, click the “Add” button. Google Search Console will send an invitation to the email address you’ve provided. The invitee must accept the invitation to gain access to your Google Search Console property.
Step 8: Confirmation
Once the invitee accepts the invitation, they’ll have access to your Google Search Console property at the permission level you selected. You can verify this by returning to the “Users and permissions” page, where you should see the new user listed.
Final Thoughts
Adding someone to your Google Search Console account can facilitate better collaboration and management of your website’s search presence. Ensure to grant access only to individuals you trust and to choose the appropriate permission level based on their role and responsibilities.
