In the digital marketplace, your website isn’t just a billboard—it’s a conversational space, a storefront, and most importantly, a prompt for action. The strategic placement of a Call to Action (CTA) can be the pivotal touchpoint that turns a visitor into a lead or a lead into a customer. But not just any CTA will suffice; it’s about making it ‘sticky’. A sticky CTA remains in view as a user scrolls through your content, consistently inviting engagement and subtly reminding them of the action you want them to take. This unobtrusive nudge capitalizes on the behavioral tendency to act on consistent prompts, significantly enhancing your website’s conversion potential.
By incorporating a sticky CTA, you’re not just elevating user experience but also creating a conversion tool that is always visible, always accessible, and always working to guide your audience toward the desired action. Whether it’s signing up for a newsletter, downloading a resource, or making a purchase, a sticky CTA can increase the likelihood of conversion by keeping the opportunity at the forefront. It’s about harnessing the art of attention without the intrusion, leveraging strategic visibility to boost engagement rates.
In the following guide, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of adding a sticky CTA to your WordPress website. We’ll cover everything from the basic benefits to the technical how-tos, ensuring that by the end of this article, you’ll be well-equipped to create a more dynamic, conversion-optimized website.
What is a CTA? What is a Sticky CTA?
A (CTA) Call to action is a element on your website that encourages the user to click or do something you want them to do. A sticky CTA is when the CTA sticks to the side of the screen so the user always sees it no matter what when they scroll or not.
How To Add A Sticky CTA WordPress?
Step 1. Go to your WordPress dashboard and go to the plugins tab on the left hand side.
Step 2. Click on the button that says Add new Plugin.
Step 3. In the search box, type in WP CTA (or click on that link to go straight there). For this demo I will be using the plugin WP CTA FREE and WP CTAPRO to create this effect.
Step 4. After downloading and installing the plugin, go to the WP CTA tab on the left hand side and click on add a cta.
Step 5. Select the type of CTA you want. Choose the Sticky CTA template.
Step 6. Design or use a preloaded design. On the free version there are 2 templates but on the Pro there are 10 templates.
Step 7. Click Save and go to the front end of your website to see how it looks and make some adjustments.
Pro Tip: don’t forget to see how it looks on mobile. You may want to use the responsive settings to turn it on mobile due to the fact there is limit screen space.
